Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Michael S. Hinds of Natchitoches, LA has created a new device for draining excess paint from paint brushes. Designed to attach to a paint can, the invention facilitates a cleaner, more efficient painting process.

For 18 years, Michael dedicated himself to an extraordinary art project: constructing a private chapel from the ground up. With the support of his wife and a few helping hands, they embarked on this monumental task. Together, they felled trees, sawed and dried the boards, and meticulously edged each piece. They also sourced additional wood items, processing each with precision and care. Michael and his wife laminated the arches, executing every step with attention to detail.

This intricate project encompassed every element: columns, trusses, rafters, and ceiling boards. He painstakingly sanded, stained, and varnished each item by hand. Despite the mess – resulting in numerous ruined shirts and pants – his commitment never wavered. Cleverly, he adapted a lid from a new can of varnish to minimize the mess, replacing it with a used one after several trials to find the perfect fit.

Michael’s progress was often hindered by pain from a past accident, inspiring him to devise innovative methods to reduce all of this unnecessary labor. In turn, he developed the Paint Pal Drip Tray and now it is ready for market!
